But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
The Word could come to you in Written or Spoken form. The “rhema” Word is the spoken Word; it is the Word sent from the Lord to you to meet a specific need. It is your custom-made Word from the Lord. Rhema is a Word spoken in season. It gets the job done; it meets the need of the hour. It is God speaking to you now, as in, right now! It is the Word that suits the occasion. It’s your Word, not someone else’s. Promises in the Scriptures are very important when it comes to believing God for something, but a specific Word must come to you from Scriptures to meet your specific need. That’s your rhema. When we meditate in Scriptures, we are meant to come, by the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to a specific revelation, a specific Word that addresses our specific needs. So, when you start out praying, you must have Scriptures inspired by the Holy Spirit addressing what you are in faith for. As you meditate on those Scriptures and keep praying, even if you don’t seem to be getting any specific Word, you don’t quit. You keep meditating, listening and praying until the rhema that you require comes. Understand that it is by faith and patience that we realize the fulfilment of the Word.
When you catch the rhema of God’s Word that you require, you can then settle your faith on it. It forms the foundation that your faith requires to come into fruition. Before you receive a rhema-word, what you have is hope and expectation, but the moment the rhema-Word comes, faith for the thing for which you believe has come. Bible faith is founded on the revelation or light of the Word of God in your heart; for with the heart we believe unto righteousness. Real faith comes from a real and intimate relationship with God. God intended for faith to be a living thing in our lives, from a living relationship with God, not a mechanical thing. The Written Word is the premise on which you cry out to God and in which you meditate until your rhema, a specific revelation from God, comes to you. True faith stands on the revelation or light of God’s Word in your spirit. The light of God’s Word in your heart, the rhema Word from God, is what makes faith work. Bible faith is based on the revelation of Scriptures within your spirit in meditation and prayer. The Scriptures form the bank from which the Spirit of God gives us specific revelation to meet our specific needs.
My Solid Front (Confession):
I declare in the Name of Jesus, that today, my rhema Word comes, as I meditate in the Scriptures and stay in prayer. I hear the voice of the Spirit of God today quickening the written Word within my Spirit in Jesus’ Name. Here comes my rhema. Amen.
