That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
Every fellowship has its unique mode, or way, or means of communication; it has its peculiar way of expression. It has a unique language. So, if you are to have fellowship with a class of people, you must understand their language, and their values. With this understanding in view and since our fellowship is with the Father and His Son Jesus Christ (1 John 1:3), we then must understand God’s language. God’s language is not tongues; God does not speak in tongues, rather, He speaks the Word: the logos (understanding, discourse) of God. Tongues, however, is the expression of our born-again spirit beyond the limitation(s) of our natural minds. We speak in other tongues as the Spirit gives us utterance (Acts 2:4). Note that the Spirit didn’t speak in tongues there in Acts 2:4, it was the disciples that spoke in tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. Did you see the difference? So, speaking in tongues is not the language of the Holy Spirit, but of the recreated human spirit. The language of the Holy Spirit is of the Word. The reason why we speak in diverse tongues is because we know in part, we prophecy in part. When we speak in tongues the Holy Spirit brings us into sync with the Father’s will for us. So, when we speak the language of the Holy Spirit which is the Word and walk in the light of it, we fellowship with God
The Word is the language of God and as such, we all ought to learn the language of God. We have to desire to know and understand how and what God speaks. For example, when God was to speak to Abraham, he didn’t have a child at the time when God said to him that his children shall be as numerous as the stars of heaven (Genesis 15:4-6). God calls the things that be not as though they were (Romans 4:17). God is a faith God. God speaks the Word; that’s His language. So, we ought to learn to speak like God and speak God’s language which is, speaking the Word. In the Word, we agree with God, and outside the Word, we disagree with God. The Word is the mind, understanding and way of God. The Word is the basis of our fellowship with God!
MY SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION):
Father, thank You for showing me that the basis of my fellowship with You is the Word. I choose the Word; I meditate in the Word and live by the Word as I fellowship with the Father in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ!
