He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.
In our opening Scripture, the Psalmist speaks of “the shadow of God’s wings”, which also speaks of the shadow of the Almighty in Psalms 91:1. Evidently, the shadow of God’s wings is the shadow of the Almighty. The opening verse speaks of the excellent lovingkindness of God, which is the reason why people put their trust under the shadow of His wings. Did you see the connection between you and the shadow of the Almighty? Trust! Absolute faith in God; that’s what keeps you under the shadow of God’s wings, the shadow of the Almighty. Faith in God is what keeps you under the shadow of the Almighty. The secret place of the Most High is a safe place, but also a place of intimacy, a place of trust in God; it is a place of fellowship with God. It is a place where your affection is set on God, where God is the focal point of your affection. Psalms 91:2 says “I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.” The man who is in the secret place of the Most High is saying what he is conscious of. He is giving voice to his consciousness, and to the place where he is. He has one consistent confession: “The LORD is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him I trust”
As a child of God, understand that your trust in God is expressed by your words. You must learn to give expression to your faith by saying or confessing what you believe. What you say is your faith speaking. What you say is your faith expressing itself. Dwelling in the secret place requires that you put God first in all your affairs, setting your affection on Him absolutely. Psalms 91:9 clearly tells us that: “Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the Most High, thy habitation.” You have endeared yourself to God by delighting yourself in Him and in His Word. You are saying to yourself that God is your refuge and fortress. Now, there is a consciousness that the Lord is your refuge, that He is your fortress, and in Him you trust. This is how to dwell in the secret place of the Most High, where there is perfect peace and rest beyond knowledge. Beloved, trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.
MY SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION):
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the privilege of dwelling in your secret place. I am glad that I can put absolute trust in You and in You alone. I declare that you are my fortress and refuge; therefore, I will not be afraid.
