My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Confidence is built by words. I do not know you, neither do you know me apart from the words that we share of one another. Nobody knows another beyond their words. Words represent us, introduce us to people, caption us, and classify us. We cannot showcase ourselves, reveal ourselves, or tell the world who we are without words. So, God couldn’t reveal Himself to us without His Word. In Genesis 1:1-3, when He said, “light be”, and there was light, immediately we knew Him as the Creator. 1 John 4:7-8 and 1 John 4:16 reveal God as LOVE, so we know Him as Love. The Word of God is God revealing Himself to us; it is God speaking to us; it is God made manifest before us. Words reveal our character; they carry and showcase the essence of who we are. To repose faith in anyone, you must know them by their words. If your words lack credibility, I cannot know you or relate to you as faithful or dependable. You are what your words say you truly are. So, the way to build confidence in God is by feeding on His Word. God and His Word are one. In fact, God’s Word is His bond or covenant. What He says is what He will do, and what He says of Himself is what He is. Hallelujah!!!
If someone said that he would do something, and he did something else, or didn’t do what he promised to do, if you call him dishonest or unfaithful, you won’t be wrong because his words are not reliable. So, words are the basis of trust. Your word is your bond or commitment. That is why in marriage, would-be couples exchange vows first before signing the documents (marriage certificate). Why? Because the certificate is a reflection of your commitment made by words. Understand that if your words are not good, you are not good; if your words are not reliable, you are not reliable, either. I can’t trust you if I can’t trust your words. So, confidence in God is built by listening to God’s Word and trusting His words. God’s Word is His covenant, and when He speaks to you, that’s what He’s going to do. Confidence in God’s Word is confidence in God Himself. Faith in God’s Word is faith in God. You cannot repose faith in God directly by bypassing or ignoring His Word! You can only have faith in God when you have faith in His Word. So, meditate in the Word and practice it, and your confidence in God will skyrocket!
