The fruit of the [consistently] righteous is a tree of life,
And he who is wise captures and wins souls [for God—he gathers them for eternity].
And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
The art of soul winning is the noblest occupation the world over. To win souls is to influence them for the Lord by giving them the Word such that they decide to turn to the Lord and be saved. Our opening Scripture tells us that the fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he that wins souls is wise. It shows us that the righteous man bears fruits of eternal life, which means that he is a soul winner. When you win a soul to the Lord, you have won a life to the Lord; you have won a destiny to the Lord, you have won a generation to the Lord. When you win a soul to the Lord, you have borne fruits of eternal life because the souls of men are indestructible and eternal. A man may die and leave his body, but his soul lives forever, either with God in glory or with Satan in hell forever. Therefore, soul winning is a matter of life and death. It is a matter that borders on the eternal destinies of people. We cannot afford to take it lightly. God didn’t take it lightly at all. This was why God sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins. God is thoroughly serious with soul winning; it is at the core of God’s agenda for the world.
So, when you win a soul unto the Lord, you have planted a tree that lives forever, and that tree abides forever. You have won an eternal soul that shall live with the Lord in glory forever. The Bible calls that ‘wisdom’. It says, he that wins souls is wise. The wisdom of God is revealed in doing things that will last forever. There are things that we do that are seasonal, that don’t last forever, like achievements in the natural, or acquiring material things. As good as all that is, it is not eternal. But when a soul is won to the Lord, a tree of eternal life has been planted. When you win a man unto the Lord, you have won a family to the Lord. The man will not marry an unbeliever because now, he is born again, and he is taught God’s Word and he knows that it is unscriptural to be unequally yoked with an unbeliever; so, he marries a Christian woman. This way, a Christian family has just been planted, but it began once upon a time with a soul won unto the Lord. Soul-winning is eternal! If you want to do something that will last forever, that will keep counting and counting in your account forever, win a soul for the Lord!
MY SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION):
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I declare that I am a soul winner. I am passionate about what the Lord is passionate about. Soul winning is at the core of my life’s quest and purpose in the Name of Jesus Christ.
