For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
The Gospel works whenever it is preached and believed. It is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes it. When faith is reposed in the Gospel, salvation is undoubtedly the result. The Gospel of Christ has never failed; it is efficacious, potent and powerful. When a man reposes faith in Jesus and His finished works on the Cross, such a person crosses from death to life; he receives eternal life. At salvation, there is deliverance from the kingdom of darkness and translation into the kingdom of light through faith. Now, the child of God has been catapulted from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God. Beloved, what happened at new birth in a split second is yours to discover the rest of your Christian life and walk. God did so much in a stroke of His grace when you got born again. Listen, all that the Father has is yours, and all that Christ Jesus has made available through His substitutionary work is now available to you for the taking. The moment you lay hold on the finished works of Christ and begin taking your reference from it, you key into fellowship with the realities of your new life in Christ. This is known as identification with Christ.
In Ephesians 2:5, Scriptures say, “Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved).” Note the expression, “together with,” which reveals a powerful principle of identification with Christ. This is what makes the word of faith. Listen beloved, it is faith which identifies with Jesus Christ and what He’s done for you that wins. There is something to believe now in line with what has been done for you. You understand that Christ’s resurrection from the dead is not apart from your resurrection. You see Christ’s victory over death as yours because you are one with Him by identification with Him. So, by oneness with Christ through identification by faith (because He is our Substitute), we understand that the Lordship of Jesus Christ is co-shared, co-owned by the believer in Christ. This means that when God raised Him from the dead and set Him on His right hand, far above all principality and power and dominion and might, and every name that is named, He raised us together with Him and set us at His right hand, far above all that. So, you identify with Christ by faith and receive all that He’s provided for you through His substitutionary work on the Cross. Hallelujah.
