For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
In understanding identification with Christ, it is important to understand Jesus’ substitutionary work for man. Identification is our legal association with Christ in His substitutionary work for us on the ground of faith. We identify with Him based on what He has done for us. Without knowledge of what Christ has done for us in His substitutionary work, we cannot identify with Him correctly or appropriately.
God sent His Son Jesus Christ to save the world; He died for our sins and was raised by the glory of the Father for our justification. All that the Father did in raising Jesus Christ from the dead, He did for us, because Jesus actually took our place. Now, we can identify with Christ in His substitutionary work for us by faith. We can receive all the blessings of Christ’s substitutionary work for us today and forever by identifying with Him by faith in that regard.
When Jesus was crucified on the Cross, the old life was crucified with Him. When He died on the Cross, the old life, the old man, died with Him; and when He was raised from the dead, the new life, the new man, was raised together with Him. Why? Jesus Christ took our place as our Substitute, so when He was crucified, and died and was raised from the dead, we were crucified with Him, and died with Him and was raised from the dead together with Him.
Hallelujah!!! That’s identification with Christ; that’s taking your reference point from Jesus’ substitutionary work for man. You reckon to your account all that Christ has done for you as though you did them, because He took your place in His substitutionary work for man. Now, you can speak in faith regarding your liberty from the bondage of sin and the old life. Now every ungodly habit can be broken! You can claim your liberty and deliverance from every entanglement of the devil. Through faith, we identify with Christ and partake of the blessings of His finished work for man.
This will help you in understanding identification with Christ: Every evil thing of darkness was crucified with Christ, died with Him, and was buried with Him; but every good thing of light and blessing was raised together with Him from the dead. You have every right to reject every negative thing of darkness in the Name of Jesus’ Christ. Why? You identify with Christ by faith! Hallelujah! Lift your hands and give God thanks for His benevolence in sending Jesus Christ. Now, we are qualified to be children of God by faith because of Jesus’ sacrifice for us. Hallelujah!
SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION):
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I declare that I am one with Christ Jesus in His crucifixion, in His death and burial, and in His resurrection. I take my reference point from Christ and Christ alone.
