2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,
3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,
18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,
19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power
Growth is a vital part of life; it is a measure of life and value. Everything living grows, and everything growing increases in value. When anyone gets born again, the first priority is to settle in Church and begin to grow in the things of God. Growth is a product of feeding and exercise; it is the effect of good feeding. As Christians, God wants us to feed on the Word for spiritual growth; for man shall not live by bread alone but by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God. God wants you to give diligent attention to the Word in order to facilitate spiritual growth. Just as a baby feeds on natural milk, the sincere milk of the Word is what a new believer ought to feed on for growth. This is facilitated by personal devotion to God through personal study and consistent Church attendance. Beloved, you need to have a Bible study time and a healthy Church attendance life in order to learn the Word. 2 Timothy 2:15 tells us, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” If you pray before you begin to study, asking the Lord to flood the eyes of your understanding with light and cause you to see the things that He has prepared for you, what would happen is that the Spirit of wisdom will begin to open your eyes. As the Word comes to you, you are seeing things in the Word of God with the eyes of your heart.
Beloved, be deliberate in your walk with God. Have a personal life of devotion to God; a personal walk with God that moves you beyond the realm of presumption into seeing things in the Word of God. Don’t fake it, be real; have a real walk with real results. In Genesis 5:24, Scriptures says “And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” Hebrews 11:5 shows us how Enoch walked with God. “By faith, Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.” For three hundred years, Enoch walked with God; he kept pace with God, walking by faith and he pleased God. How? By faith. Fundamentally, the life of the believer is that of faith, for the just shall live by faith.
MY SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION):
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I give attention to the Word and as I do, my profiting is evident to all. I grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
