18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Acknowledgement of God for who He is, must be consistent with His eternal character. God does things for who He is; everything He does emanates from who He is, His eternal character. God is going to use His power to deliver and to help people, just because He is merciful and gracious. God is love and that is the primary reason why He does all that He does. God acts from His eternal character of love, faith and righteousness. Beloved, understand that God is who He is, God is what He says He is; He never changes. The Word has revealed God to us; therefore, in acknowledging God as God, we must do it according to the Word, for whatever the Word says He is, that’s who He is. When you give thanks to God according to His eternal character as the Word has revealed Him to us, we give thanks well and effectively; and so, our faith is edified and strengthened. Therefore, in acknowledging God, you need to outline from the Word the revelation of the eternal character of God to you. No revelation of God is higher than what the Word tells us that He is.
Our opening Scripture shows us that it is impossible for God to lie. Isaiah 55:10-11 shows us that the Word of God does not fail. Verse 11 says “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” This is a pointer to the character of God, that God is a faithful God. When you practice acknowledging God as faithful by thanksgiving, your faith will be strengthened. This is how we get into experiencing God for ourselves as we put the Word to work, giving thanks to God according to His Word. Therefore, a vital key to having a very rich prayer life is that you need to learn Scriptures about the character of God and who we are in Him. As you act on the Word in this manner, you will know beyond what you have read in the book that God is faithful, you will come into the experiential knowledge of God as faithful. So, prayer is the platform, the privilege that God has given us to experience the Word by acknowledging all that He is to us and all that we are in Him according to the Word by thanksgiving unto God. So, make a list of the different dimensions of the character of God that’s in the Word: God is faithful, He is gracious, He is merciful, He is love, He is righteous, He is holy, He is longsuffering, He is slow to anger, etc. Begin giving thanks to God for all that the Word says that He is and you will enter into the experience of God according to the Word by faith.
MY SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION):
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I enter into a personal experience of God by acknowledging Him for who He is according to the Word by thanksgiving. As I give thanks to God for who He is, I experience Him firsthand. Amen!
