4 Wilt thou not from this time cry unto me, My father, thou art the guide of my youth?
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
It is true that God has given to us the 66 books of the Bible to guide us in general, with each book from Genesis to Revelation unveiled to mankind; however, we still need specific instructions that are not written in black and white in the pages of the Bible. Hence, we have to receive specific instructions from the Holy Spirit through meditation in the Written Word. For example, how will a brother know who exactly to marry from all the beautiful daughters of Zion in Church? Especially since the name of the lady might not be written in the Bible. The general will of God says you have to marry a Christian, but the specific will of God reveals to you the specific one that you are to marry. God designed your destiny, and He knows the very woman or man that will best suit His purpose for you; He knows what He has put in them, what He has prepared them for. So, God will guide you to people of the same kind of preparation and inclination towards Him, so that both of you can walk together in agreement and fulfil God’s plan for your life. That is why it is so important to be led in marriage, career, business, and even in ministry.
Another question to ask is, “where do you settle your family?” “What kind of business or career do you pick up?” Some people might say, “anywhere I get a job, anywhere I can get something to do, that’s where I’ll live.” No! We are not led by jobs and circumstances; we are led by the Holy Spirit. Other questions believers ask include: which business deal of all the legitimate ones available do I go for? What career path do I follow in life? If you go to a counsellor, he or she will only help you to settle for what you have abilities for. You might be required to fill a questionnaire, then they will analyse the questionnaire and then place you; but those things don’t work for everyone. There are some people who, as a result of the things they’ve been through in life, they have a lot of things locked up within them that any counsellor cannot see. For example, a child who grew up being shouted at to keep quiet or be silent in almost every conversation and was not given a chance for expression can be mistaken for an introvert, as a result of being denied expression while growing up. If a counsellor then sees such a person and recommends a particular line of career based on his supposed introverted nature, when such a person gets born again and is filled with the Holy Spirit and develops the confidence to give expression to the gifting of God within, such a person can now be categorized as an extrovert. Therefore, as a believer, you’ll have to go back to the One who originated your destiny to know what He’s packaged you for, what you are wired to do in life.
MY SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION):
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I refuse to estimate myself based on my past experiences and immediate circumstances. I look past the sensual into God’s purpose for me by the Holy Spirit!
