23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
Man is primarily a spirit being that is spiritual, he has a soul that is intellectual and lives in a physical body. This is the truth of God’s Word according to Scriptures (1 Thessalonians 5:23). Man is not just a soul, but essentially a spirit being. When God breathed into man in Genesis 2, the Bible says man became a living soul. It didn’t say man became a soul; it says, he became a living soul. That means that there was a living part of that soul and without the life of that soul, the soul is dead. In Genesis 1:26 “…God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” God is a Spirit. John 4:24 says “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” So, if God is a Spirit and man was made in the image of God, then man is a spirit-being like God. Man couldn’t have been anything less than a spirit being like God from whom he was sourced. So, man is a spirit, that has a soul, and lives in the body.
The Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 4:16 talks about the inward and outward man: “For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.” Beyond what the five physical senses can capture, there is a man on the inside and the five physical senses cannot deny his reality. Apostle Peter put it this way: “But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.” (1 Peter 3:4). Peter called him the hidden man of the heart and that is the true man. Why? The inward man is the spirit man. Personality is of the soul, and physical manifestation is of the body. So, you’ll contact reality with your spirit, personality with your soul and manifestation or physicality with the body. If the spirit leaves the body, the spirit can live on without the body, but the body cannot live without the spirit. Undoubtedly, essence is of the spirit, person is of the soul and manifestation or physicality is of the body. So, you contact God with your spirit, the intellectual world with your soul, and the physical world with your body. God will lead you by His Spirit through your born-again spirit. So, learn to receive from God from inside-out by praying in tongues and meditating in the Word.
