1 John 4:168 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
Love is the visible attribute of God; it is the very visibility of the essence of God’s life. Our opening Scripture reveals that God is Love. 1 John 4:16 says, “And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.” Knowing the Love of God is by revelation. For the believer, the first contact point of knowing God’s love is at salvation or new birth, when he gets born again. Indeed, the coming of Jesus to the world was the revelation of God’s love to man. John 3:16 tells us that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. Jesus Christ came into the world because of the Father’s love for us; He had to die for humanity, even though man didn’t know that it was God’s love gift that was being punished on the cross. He was wounded for our transgression, He was bruised for our iniquity and the punishment for sin needed to give us peace was upon Him (Isaiah 53:3-5). The world thought that Jesus was being punished for His sins, but little did they know that love, God’s love for us, was what played out at Calvary. It was the height of the love of God demonstrated, by sending Jesus to the world to die for us; it was love unfeigned, love exemplified, not explained, love personified. What love! “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13. Jesus gave His life for us, so that we might come into the family of God. 1 John 3:1-2 says “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God…Beloved, now are we the sons of God…” Now we are sons of God. Halleluyah! You are a child of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
The moment the gospel is preached to an unbeliever and such a heart is opened to receive the Word of God, something happens within that changes everything about him. 2 Corinthians 5:17 describes it this way “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” Love brings newness. The love of God can reach the farthest distance and transform the one who has been written off. This is how powerful the love of the Father is. Beloved, God loves you; He is in love with you. He is thinking about you right now, working things out in your favour, causing strategic open doors to come your way to increase you. Respond to God’s love today. No matter how much of God’s love you have experienced, there is more in God. God’s love can be so overwhelming that everything and everyone that comes in contact with you experiences it. Be blessed!
