2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
One of the numerous blessings we have in Christ Jesus is the privilege of praying in tongues. Praying in tongues is exclusive to the New Testament, and unique to us in Christ. This is due to the fact that the Holy Spirit has come to reside in us and be the fountain of living water in us unto eternal life. When Jesus was going to leave His disciples, He said to them, “…behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high” (Luke 24:49). The disciples tarried and the promise of the Father was released upon them on the day of Pentecost. Acts 2 chronicles descriptively the infilling of the Holy Spirit experienced in the upper room, and in verse 4 of Acts 2 “…they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Notice the tense used “they began to…” It was the beginning of talking supernaturally like they had not experienced before. There was a dimensional shift from that moment such that massive soul-winning happened by one sermon preached by Apostle Peter, under the influence of the Holy Ghost. Power had been generated while the disciples prayed in other tongues and the result was about three thousand souls won that same day.
The miracle of praying in tongues is unfathomable to the natural mind. As believers, we can draw on rest, refreshing, comfort, edification and comfort from the springs of God within us by praying in other tongues. Praying in tongues is such a huge blessing God has bestowed on the Church. Beloved, do you know that you have a competitive advantage in life? The Holy Spirit is your competitive advantage; He is here to help you through life and as you meditate in the Word and pray in the Spirit, speaking in tongues, the Holy Spirit will take a hold of your spirit, navigating on a prophetic journey into the deep things of God prepared for you, even before the foundation of the world. You will take a deep rest in God and get overwhelmingly refreshed when you speak in other tongues. In your private prayer life, make time out to speak in other tongues a lot. Let this utterance from your spirit by the Holy Spirit, in tongues, well up within you. Jesus said, “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” John 7:38. Let the river flow. Make out time to speak to God in tongues, for no man understands you. Praying in tongues is such a secure and hotline of reaching God directly, and when you speak, you’re speaking mysteries, deep things of God concealed for our glory and shining. You come into depths when you pray in tongues. Give yourself to praying in tongues consistently and you will enter into the deep things of God.
My Solid Front (Confession):
Heavenly Father, thank You for showing me the importance of praying in tongues continually. I yield myself to praying in tongues daily in Jesus’ Name!
