7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Our opening Scripture reveals a profound truth, “as you think in your heart, so are you.” This places a high premium on the content and quality of your thoughts because you will become the character of your thoughts. Beloved, what is the content of your heart? The importance of the mind and what you let into the mind cannot be trivialized. The mind plays a central role in determining and transforming the personality of man. The codes and building blocks of your personality are sourced in the mind, so the mind forms the core transforming centre of man. A man cannot be different from how he thinks. Your thoughts and thought process shape your character, which means that your character takes its source from your mind. Therefore, having been born again, if any change will happen to you and in your life, the configuration of the mind must change, the soul must be transformed. Understand that the transformation of man is by the renewing of the mind. Having understood that the mind shapes the personality, it is important to pay attention to the forces that shape the mind, some of which are thoughts and experiences.
How then do you align your thoughts with God’s thoughts, and produce the God kind of result here on earth? It is by renewing your mind to the Word. Romans 12:2 tells us not to be conformed to the world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our mind. There is no mid-point, it’s either you are conforming to the world, or you’re being transformed by the Word. God’s Word is the true agent of change; so, give heed to the Word and let the Word bring your mind into perfect alignment with God’s will. The Lord is the Shepherd of your soul, leading you in green pastures, restoring your soul. The Psalmist says “He restoreth my soul…” (Psalms 23:3). The restoration of the soul is also referred to as renewing the mind, and this comes as you meditate on the Word and act on it. God’s Word will build you and build your personality in line with the Word if you let it in. Peradventure your personality has been shaped wrongly, it is time to make adjustments in line with the Word. You will begin by feeding on the Word and feeding your mind with the Word of God, such that your thoughts are in line with the Word, hence your actions will be in line with your thought because they both stem out of the Word. The moment you let the Word gain ascendancy over your emotions, you are no longer just a hearer, but a doer of the Word and so you will be blessed in your deeds.
My Solid Front (Confession):
In the Name of Jesus Christ, I take heed to my mind in all things. I refuse to let negative thoughts rule my mind. I meditate in the word as I walk in the light daily! Amen!
