15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Pastors are shepherds; they feed, protect, and guide the flock. God has saddled pastors with the responsibility to feed, protect and guide the Church of Jesus Christ. In Jeremiah 3:15, the Word reveals the promise of God to Israel to give them pastors according to His heart, which shall feed them with knowledge and understanding. This tells us that God’s heart desire is to give us pastors. God does not want His people to be scattered abroad, neither does He want them to faint. Matthew 9:36 tells us “But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.” Jesus had compassion on them because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. When God’s people lack pastors, they faint and are scattered abroad. Pastors feed God’s people so they don’t faint; they gather them, so they are not scattered abroad. Any child of God who does not have a pastor will faint and live a scattered, disorderly life. God wants you fed and edified or built up through the ministry of your Pastor. He wants you to come under the pastorate of a Pastor that you might not faint.
Psalms 23:1 tells us that the Lord is our Shepherd, therefore we shall not want. How does the Lord shepherd us? He does it by the Holy Spirit through our Pastors. ‘Want’ in the life of the believer is always the result of not coming under God’s management and shepherding system, which is the pastorate of a Pastor. Your Pastor is meant to feed you with the Word of God, providing you with knowledge and understanding. Psalms 68:6 tells us that God sets the solitary in families, which means that God sets His children in different local assemblies in the Body of Christ to be fed. You don’t make a pick of Church all by yourself. You did not design your destiny; God did. He knows the right meal you need to fulfil your destiny; so, let Him lead you to the Pastor He’s prepared for you. Jeremiah 10:23 tells us that the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man who walks to direct his ways. Let God lead you to your Pastor who will feed you with knowledge and understanding and equip you for life and destiny.
