8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
Immutability is the quality of being constant, unchangeable, or eternal. The Word is immutable. It is unchangeable. It abides forever and remains ever reliable and trustworthy. Jesus is the living Word; He is the unchangeable, eternal, immortal, and everlasting Word (John 1:1, 14). Hebrews 13:8, our opening verse, tells us that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever. The Word is the everlasting Rock that never shifts ground, nor wavers under any circumstance or situation. The Word is dependable; it is the solid rock on which we stand in the face of shifting circumstances of life. The Word can be relied upon; it can be trusted. It abides forever and will not change for anything, or for anyone. God’s Word has credibility; therefore, it is worthy of our faith and trust. That the Word is immutable is proof that it can be trusted. It is a solid rock on which you can build your entire life.
In Matthew 7:24-27, the Lord Jesus Christ gives a pictorial illustration of the importance of living by the Word. He says whosoever hears His Words and practices them is like a wise man who built his house on a rock. The rain descended, the floods came, and the winds beat upon that house; but it did not fall, for it was founded upon the rock. However, He goes on to say, everyone that hears His words and does not practice it is like a foolish man who built his house upon the sand. The rain descended, the floods came, and the winds beat upon that house; but it fell, and great was the fall of it. The point is, the Word of God is a solid rock on which to build one’s life and living according to the Word is building on a solid rock. You and yours are eternally insured when built on the Word. You go from glory to glory, and from strength to strength as you build on the Word, the everlasting strength of God. Understand that the Word is immutable, therefore it can be relied upon absolutely. Hallelujah!!!
My Solid Front (Confession):
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I declare that I depend on the Word absolutely. My trust is in the immutable, unchangeable Word of God. Amen.
