24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Justification is the declaring of a person to be just or righteous, spared from the penalty of sin or wrong. It is a legal term signifying acquittal; it is also a theological term signifying peace with God having been forgiven of one’s sins and cleared by the Supreme Court of heaven as justified or righteous. Justification is God’s righteous act of removing the guilt and penalty of sin while, at the same time, declaring the ungodly to be righteous, through faith in Christ’s atoning sacrifice. Romans 5:1 tells us that we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, having been justified by faith. Therefore, biblical justification as it is with God, is only by faith in Jesus Christ. It is not of works of self-righteousness, nor of the works of the Law. Justification as it is with God is strictly by faith in Jesus Christ. Today’s opening verse punctuates that justification is imputed to us when we believe in Jesus our Lord that was raised up from death, delivered up for our offences, and raised again for our justification.
David by the Holy Spirit describes the blessings of justification by faith in Psalms 32:1-2: “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven; whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit, there is no guile”. The best way to define or explain any biblical term is to let the Scripture speak to it. Romans 4:7-9 outlines the benefits of justification which comes by faith with reference to Psalms 32:1-2, namely: 1. Forgiveness of sins, 2. Remission of sins, 3. No imputation of sins, and 4. New Creation (recreation) of man’s nature: the peeling off of the sin nature such that there is no guile anymore. So, when you believe in Jesus Christ as the Lord and Saviour of your life, you are justified from all your sins, meaning that God forgives you of all your sins, He remits your sins (He wipes them out such that they are not remembered or seen anymore), He discharges and acquits you of all your sins such that they cannot be reckoned to your account anymore, and He makes you a brand new being with a new nature free from sin, deceit and guile. That’s how blessed we are who have been justified by faith in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!!! Are you grateful that you are the just of the Lord? Lift up your hands and give God praise for justification by faith in Christ Jesus!!!
MY SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION):
In the Name of Jesus Christ, I declare that I am God’s righteousness in Christ and that I have been justified by faith in Christ Jesus. My sins have been forgiven and erased, and every record or account of sin against me has been deleted, and now I am a new creature in Christ; a new breed without greed. Hallelujah! Amen.
