27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
Today’s opening verse reveals that there is a mystery that had been hidden for ages from the people of old but is being revealed to us by the Spirit of God, which is Christ in us, the hope of glory. Knowing that this mystery was hid for ages but is now revealed to us proves that it is a relevant revelation for this age; that is the discovery of the moment. The world lived in darkness for thousands of years. There was just as much electricity in the world then as now. It has always been here; but humanity has discovered how to utilize and harness it. What does it mean, “Christ in you, the hope of glory?” It is Christ living in you, the hope of realizing, sharing in, participating in the glory of God. The glory of God here does not mean the praise of God, but the very essence or substance of God, which is His Spirit. So, Christ in you, the hope of glory simply means that Christ’s life and nature in us is the hope or assurance of participating in the divine life, which means that the life of Christ in us gives the assurance of participating in the divine nature or life.
When anyone becomes born again by receiving Jesus as Lord and Saviour, that person becomes born anew, a new creature with God’s life, Christ’s nature, in him. That forms the foundation of realizing, partaking in the glory of God. As the believer learns the Word of God by receiving the ministry of the Word and acting on the Word, he shares and partakes in the divine nature. This partaking is only possible because of Christ in him, which is the life or nature of Christ in him (2 Peter 1:5). This is the seed of God in the believer that makes living the life of God possible. “Christ in us” is the revolutionizing power of God in the earth; it is the factor that is changing the world and the character of the Christian faith. The world is awakening to the marvelous truth that Christ is not only in heaven; but is also in you. The key to realizing God’s glory in your life is Christ in you, and that begins at the new birth and continues as we walk in the light of our union with Christ through the Word and the power of the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah!!!
