For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace
You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.
According to our opening Scripture, your mindedness is what determines what you get in life. To be carnally minded is death. Carnal mindedness produces death. What you think is what you get. Then it says, to be spiritually minded is life and peace. So, you can either be carnally minded or spiritually minded. There is no neutral point. Life abhors vacuum or neutrality. The choice is yours, whether to be carnally minded or to be spiritually minded. The outcomes are predictably certain. Death is the result of being carnally minded. Life and peace are the end results of being spiritually minded. What you mind determines what you get. Did you see how central the mind is to either being spiritual or carnal? Carnality or spirituality actually is the state of the mind. When either of the states of the mind lingers, then it becomes the state of the person. Did you see how the state of the mind becomes the state of personality?
God wants you spiritually minded. God made you in His image and after His likeness; so, He wants you to be spiritually minded like Him. Spiritual mindedness is the pathway to life and peace. Peace simply means completeness, safety, prosperity; nothing missing, nothing broken. That is God’s will for you, and the key to experiencing it is spiritual mindedness. To be spiritually minded, you must think the Word. The Word shows us how God thinks. God doesn’t think like the world does. God’s Word is His way of thinking. How do you train yourself to be spiritually minded? You meditate on the Word; you think upon the Word of God, you give attention to the Word and live accordingly. The Bible tells us in Isaiah 26:3 “Thou (God) wilt keep him in perfect peace (Shalom), whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” When you stay your mind on God, He keeps you in perfect peace and that’s what spiritual mindedness produces – life and peace. Romans 12:2 tells us, “Be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.” When your mind is renewed, you are able to prove the good and acceptable and perfect will of God. You and God are now on the same page; in perfect sync, to live as one in absolute unity. That’s the height of Christianity!
MY SOLID FRONT (Confession):
I declare that my mind is stayed on God and His Word; I think thoughts that are of the Spirit of God continually, therefore my experiences are life and peace in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
