For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written: The just shall live by faith
By faith we understand that the [a]worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
Today’s opening Scripture reveals the importance of faith to us. It tells us that the just shall live by faith, which means that the Christian life is a life of faith from scratch to finish. We are justified from sin’s guilt by faith and live in that justification by faith. What does it mean to live by faith? Well, it is important to understand what life is and what faith is first, to understand what it means to live by faith. Life is a force or energy or principle of doing things; it is the principle of behaviour, of existence, of understanding and of performance. Without life, there is no existence. Life informs the pattern of behaviour; life determines understanding, and life also determines performance. For example, animal life informs and determines animal understanding. Animals cannot understand as humans do. Plants will behave according to their kind of life. So, when the Bible says that the just shall live by faith, it is saying that faith is the principle of behaviour, of existence, of understanding and performance of the just. Faith informs our behaviour, understanding and culture in Christ.
Faith is absolute confidence in God. Faith is believing that the Word is what it says and that it will come to pass, no matter what; it is therefore backed up with action like you know the Word is true and cannot fail. Hebrews 11:3 says “Through Faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God; so that the things which are seen, were not made out of things which do appear.” Faith has become our sense of value and appreciation of things, people and events. We flow from faith and live by faith. Through faith we understand that words can create and recreate our world. Through faith we have come to understand the power of speaking the Word of God to things and to situations of life to change them. Now we know that as we speak in consonance with God’s Word, we will have what we say, since God’s Word cannot be denied. Through faith, we now understand that the Word is the foundation of life and everything rests on the Word. Faith has become our way and view of life. We see life through faith; we live by faith.
MY SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION):
I declare that I live by faith. I see things through the eyes of faith. I live the Godkind of life through the Godkind of faith which I have received in Christ. I live according to God’s design by faith. I frame my world by the force of faith. My behaviour and performance are after the order of faith in Christ. Amen.
