But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as [a]by the Spirit of the Lord.
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Today’s opening Scripture shows us the secret of making effortless change or transformation in life. Our transformation ought not to be by carnal effort but by the power of an endless life, by the power of the Holy Spirit. How exactly does this happen? The opening verse tells us that as we behold with unveiled face the glory of the Lord, as in a mirror, we are changed into the same image, from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. The change takes place as we behold the glory of the Lord with an open face in the mirror of the Word of God. Open face means unveiled face; a face that is not covered by the law or any such thing – it is unveiled so we can see the glory of God. The mirror is God’s Word, and as we keep beholding, we are changed into the same image in the mirror (James 1:22-25). As we continue in the perfect law of liberty, we see Jesus as He truly is, and we see ourselves in Him. That image is what the Spirit uses to transform us from glory to glory.
If you want any change in your life, your attitude or lifestyle, first, you must see the image of the glory of God consistent with the desired change as it is in the Word of God. Until you see the image of the glory of the Lord, you will not experience true change. Any attempt to change without first seeing the image of the glory of God in the mirror of God’s Word will only lead to frustration. You have to first conceive that image in your heart. To walk in righteousness, for example, you have to first see that you have become the righteousness of God in Christ, and that the Spirit that indwells you is your ability to live in righteousness. That image must be clear within you. When it is clear, the Holy Spirit now has something to work with in forming you into the template of the image of God you have seen in your spirit as it is in the Word. Anything short of that will mean you continually try hard, without any success. The Spirit changes you into the image of the glory of God in your spirit that you have caught from the Word.
MY SOLID FRONT (CONFESSION):
I declare in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that I am translated from one level of glory to another by the Spirit of God as I behold the mirror of the Word of God. My life tells an awesome story of continuous change and progress. Amen.
