17 And these signs will follow those who [a]believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;
18 they[b] will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
The following are practical steps to exercising dominion over demons: One, believe in what Jesus Christ has done for you as touching your rights and privileges to rule over devils. The Bible says that Jesus Christ defeated principalities and powers for you in His substitutionary work at Calvary, and when He was raised from the dead, He broke the power of the devil over your life. Hallelujah! Colossians 2:15 tells us that Jesus Christ spoiled principalities and powers, and made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in His cross. So, God has won the victory for you in Christ. You must believe this solidly and absolutely. In Christ Jesus, you have absolute authority over Satan and all his demons. Remember, when conviction is absolute, dominion is absolute! Absolute conviction breeds absolute dominion. Two, meditate on your new identity or status in Christ; meditate on the authority that Christ has given you over Satan and all his demons. Understand that you are of God and have overcome them (Satan and all his demons) for greater is He that’s in you than he that’s in the world (1 John 4:4). You have overcome the god of this world and all his devils in Jesus’ Name. Let your heart ruminate on this until absolute conviction is birthed in you. Meditation simply means saying the Word to yourself until it becomes your inner awareness or consciousness or conviction, until your thought pattern and belief system are set by the Word. The Spirit of God builds it into your inner consciousness.
Three, begin to use, in faith, the authority that God has given you over Satan and all his devils in Christ. There is no place in the New Testament where there is a promise that God will cast out devils for you, no! God has given us the authority to do it, and we have the exclusive prerogative to exercise dominion over Satan and all his cohorts (Mark 16:17-18). You have the Name of Jesus as the power of attorney to cast Satan out of your affairs and territory. Don’t give him a foothold; don’t let him have any breathing space. Four, give Satan and his devils no place in your life! Ephesians 4:26-27 tells us to not let anger linger in us that we may not sin and that we may not give the devil a foothold. Anger and anything of such, consistent with the works of the flesh as outlined in Galatians 5:19-21 will give a foothold to the devil. Hence, we walk in the Spirit and refuse to fulfill the lusts of the flesh. We repent forward and swiftly. We make no room for the flesh to fulfill its lusts. In other words, we live a life of godliness and holiness which is consistent with our new nature in Christ. Hallelujah!
My Solid Front (Confession):
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I declare that I have dominion and authority over demon spirits and over all the power of the enemy. Therefore, I trample upon serpents and scorpions, and nothing shall by any means hurt me. Amen.
