6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
Anxiety is a plague of the soul which pollutes every part of your being, if accommodated. It must be avoided like a plague. Anxiety shouts down our confidence in God to meet every need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Anxiety is a child of unbelief; it is unpersuadableness born and bred by ignorance of God’s loving kindness unto all that call upon Him. To be able to tackle anxiety, we must know the kind of relationship which exists between us and the Lord. He made us; we are the sheep of His pasture. He is responsible for us; we are not responsible for ourselves. He is our bread Provider or Giver. King David wrote in Psalms 23 that the Lord is his Shepherd. Is He any less our Shepherd today? Just as much as it is not the responsibility of the sheep to fend for themselves but the shepherd’s, it is not ours to fend for ourselves. We are God’s responsibility. In Matthew 6, the Lord Jesus reminded His audience that the birds of the air don’t fend for themselves; they don’t sow, nor reap, nor gather into barns, yet the heavenly Father feeds them. In other words, they are the Father’s responsibility. These are His creatures, not children from His loins. You are God’s child born of His Word and of His Spirit. Don’t you think that He will take better care of you than He does them? Think about this. Beloved, settle it in your heart that He is responsible for you, and you are accountable to Him.
Our opening Scripture tells us to be careful or anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, we should let our requests be made known unto God. Then, His peace, which passes all understanding, shall keep our minds and hearts calm, and preserved through Christ Jesus. We must meditate on the Word until our hearts calm down and quietly rest on God’s unshakable ability and love to meet all our needs. We must not act like the heathen who seek after things with loud unbelief in God. We must maintain our calm and have a strong resolve that we are the Father’s responsibility. We only must live our lives being accountable to Him on the ground of His Word. He sure will take care of us as we cast all our cares on Him once and for all, for He cares for us affectionately.
My Solid Front (Confession):
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I declare that I am averse to anxiety. I cast all my cares upon the Lord, and I believe that He is more than enough to take care of all my needs. Amen.
