And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
9 How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.
11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.
The Word of God has cleansing and renewing power to cleanse and renew our minds. We are in this world, but we are not of this world. As we live in this world, some things of this world tend to stick themselves to our minds, one way or another. But as we meditate in the Word, it cleanses us from every kind of worldliness, and makes us fit for the Master’s use. Romans 12:2 tells us by way of admonishing us in righteousness and true holiness to not conform to this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of the mind. How? By the washing of water by the Word of God, which lives and abide forever. The Word tells us to not be conformed to the world, which is an instruction that cannot be adhered to alone, because it goes with another instruction which is a counterpart of the first. The counterpart says, to be transformed by the renewing of the mind. Hence, to not conform to this world requires being consistently transformed by the renewing of the mind. There is no such thing as not being conformed to the world without being transformed by the renewing of the mind. One is the effect of the other. They go hand in hand.
Romans 8:6 tells us that carnality is a thing of the mind, as much as spirituality is. It says to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Therefore, what we mind determines whether we will be spiritual or not. We must mind the right things, and how? By giving attention to the Word. The Word is the only way to get our mind renewed and cleansed for the Master’s use. Psalms 119:9, 11 tells us that the only way a young man can cleanse his way from corruption and sin is by taking heed to the Word of God. When the Word is stored up within us, we will walk in the paths of righteousness and be far away from iniquity. The Word must take first place in us to be able to live from inside out, living spiritually and not carnally. We must meditate and live by the Word daily to have our minds stayed on God, trusting in Him through and through. Isaiah 26:3 tells us that God will keep us in perfect peace when our minds are stayed on Him. This is what it means, to trust in God solely and totally. Beloved, give earnest heed to the Word!
My Solid Front (Confession):
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I declare that my mind is under the influence of the Word alone. My mind is ruled by the power and authority of the Word unto abundant eternal life. Amen.
