Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
“So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
The Word of God ought to live in us daily because it is our life. Mathew 4:4 tells us that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Our life in Christ is solely dependent on the Word of God. We ought to have God’s Word living and dwelling in us continually. The opening verse opens with an admonition to let the Word of Christ dwell in us richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing ourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in our hearts to the Lord. When we are full of God’s Word, we are full of God, and we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us within by His Word, which dwells in us. The greater One who dwells in us rules and reigns in and through us by His Word which dwells in us. Therefore, it is important to let the Word dwell in you, for God cannot do anything in and through you beyond the revelation or light of the Word which dwells in you. But when you are full of the Word and the Spirit, God can do exceedingly abundantly above what you ask or imagine, according to the power which works in you. We are to let the Word dwell in us in our own interest. We are to let the Word have sway over our minds as we meditate, drink in and act upon it.
Acts 20:32 tells us that God’s Word apportions to us our inheritance in Christ and builds us up into the fulness of Christ, in every respect or ramification of the God nature. We cannot walk in our inheritance in Christ beyond the degree to which the Word dwells in us. We cannot make the most of our union with Christ beyond the light of the Word dwelling in us. God’s big goal after new birth is to build Christ into us until we become like Him in all things. This ongoing ministry of the Spirit is to the degree and measure to which we let the Word of God dwell in us. Our opening verse says to let the Word of Christ dwell in us richly. We are to let it. Our will is involved; our choice come to play in this matter. We must yield ourselves to the ministry of the Word and of the Spirit that we might be changed into the fulness of the measure of the stature of Christ. How? Give keen and generous attention to the Word to meditate upon it, and to live by it. This is what it takes to have the Word dwell in us richly. Your life will take a huge leap as you let the Word dwell in you richly.
My Solid Front (Confession):
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I declare that the Word of Christ dwells in me richly in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. I am full of the Word and of the wisdom of God. Amen.
