38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace,[a] be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.
40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How[b] is it that you have no faith?”
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
The major hindrance to faith is lack of revelation of God’s Word. Ignorance of the Word of God is the core hinderance to faith. Ignorance of the Word regarding what? Ignorance of what God has said concerning you, your future, who you are in Christ and what Christ has done for you in Him. That’s the greatest enemy of faith. In faith, we deal with the reality of God’s Word, therefore, the knowledge of the Word must not be scarce for faith to seamlessly triumph over the obstacles of life. The lack of understanding of who you are in Christ is a major hindrance to faith. If a man lacks the understanding of his identity in Christ, his faith will be inoperative. The knowledge of who you are in Christ is the foundation on which your faith in God is built; it is the substance of your faith. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” A Christian who doesn’t believe he is a new man in Christ will not be able to believe God for new things consistent with his new nature. He will struggle to believe God because he doesn’t know who he is in Christ. When the enemy brings to him things inconsistent with his new nature, he will take them. The enemy will trick him easily to believe a lie because his faith is not rooted in his identity
Understanding your new creation realities forms the foundation of your faith in Christ and knowing your true status in Christ will strengthen your faith. When you know who you are, there are some things you won’t believe. When you know your root, your identity in truth, it becomes easy for you to believe God for certain things in line with your inheritances in Christ. As the seed of Abraham, you are blessed. Graceful longevity is yours. Nothing can cut your life short because you are the seed of Abraham. You can take authority over fear, peradventure you have been oppressed by it. You can believe God to live a godly life because you are now a child of God. Beloved, it is not hard for a new man to believe God for new things. But the hardest thing in the world is for a new man who doesn’t know his identity in Christ to believe God for new things!
MY SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION):
I am a new man in Christ. In this new identity, my possibilities and realities are new. I can believe God for new things in line with my new nature and I experience the new life and enjoy new things in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
