18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
There are levels in the experience of the grace of God. The salvation grace is the first dimension or level of grace that we experience when we get saved (Ephesians 2:8, Titus 2:11). However, that is not all there is to enjoying the grace of God. The Bible tells us that there is more. In fact, in James 4:6 the Word tells us that God gives more grace, which means grace can increase in magnitude. 1 Peter 5:10 tells us that God is the God of all grace. So, grace is in types and magnitudes. We are meant to grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, which means that our souls are supposed to come into the awareness and experience of the different types and magnitudes of God’s grace. Everyone in Christ has come into the experience of God’s saving grace, which came at new birth. But that’s not all there is to experiencing and knowing the grace of God. There is more in God; there is more in Christ as we press in and walk with God.
When we stepped into Christ at new birth, we stepped into the fullness of grace. Romans 5:17 tells us that we have received abundance of grace, and of the gift of righteousness. However, our experience of grace in life and in our walk with God only comes through the knowledge of the Word, not head knowledge but heart knowledge. We are meant to understand in the process of time and come into intimate and experiential knowledge of that grace which we stepped into at new birth. For example, gaining admission into the University initiates you into a particular body of knowledge, depending on your course of study. However, you still must take lectures, train, and do practicals to experience knowledge and acquire skills. In the same vein, experiencing grace in Christ comes with knowing God, walking in the light of the Word, and pressing in and desiring more of God’s grace. There is no room for complacency. Beloved, grace will be multiplied to you as you grow in the knowledge of God, not head knowledge but revelation and experiential knowledge. You can only walk in grace to the degree of God’s knowledge that you have in you. The plan of God for you is to keep increasing in grace as you increase in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
My Solid Front (Confession):
In the Name of Jesus, I declare that I increase in the knowledge of Christ; I increase in the experiential knowledge of grace daily. Amen.
