18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
God never intended for the life of grace under the New Testament to be lived in and by the energy of the flesh. The life that we have in Christ is of grace and can only be lived by the Spirit of grace filling and strengthening us. God’s plan is that we live by the power of the Holy Spirit. Little wonder Jesus told the apostles in Luke 24:49 to tarry in Jerusalem until they be endued with power from on high. To be endued is to be empowered by way of being drunk, overwhelmed, or soaked in something. It is God’s intent for us all to be filled with the Spirit, for it is the Spirit of God who gives us the privilege of revelation, and He’s the One who endues us with the power of God. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, the things of God become easy to do, and to walk in. Philippians 2:13 tells us that it is God who is at work in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure.
When we are filled with the Spirit of God, doing the will of God will not be a struggle; it will be a delight. The Spirit of God is our competitive advantage; He puts us on top of every situation of life; He is the Revealer of the deep things of God, He gives us the edge over natural men. Through fellowship with the Spirit, we are in sync with the heavenly Father. Our opening Scripture tells us not to be drunk with wine, wherein is excess, but to be filled with the Spirit of God. How? It says speaking to yourselves in psalms, and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord. When you begin to speak to yourself in the Word, singing and ministering to the Lord in worship, you’ll be filled with the Spirit. You can do this daily and stay constantly filled with the Spirit. Beloved, keep the fire of the freshness of the Spirit burning as you do what the Word says to do continually.
My Solid Front:
In the Name of Jesus, I declare that I yield myself to the Spirit of God, and by Him I am enabled to do the will of God, and to live the supernatural life. I am graced for the supernatural life. Hallelujah! Amen.
