8 The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.
9 The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
The goodness of God is one of the forces that make for the supernatural. God is a good God and when you understand that God is good, it becomes very easy for you to receive from Him. Our opening Scripture says “the Lord is gracious and full of compassion…” What does it mean to be gracious? It simply means to be kind, to be liberal; to be disposed to doing good, to be giving. The Bible says the Lord is gracious, which means God gives freely. God is a giver, and He is benevolent. The natural man may give out of pressure, involuntarily or under compulsion but not God; He is giving or liberal by nature. Our opening Scripture also reveals that the Lord is full of compassion. To be compassionate means to be loving, kind, it means to be merciful; to have mercy on people without explaining away a reason to help them. There are people in need just because people cannot find reasons to help them, probably because of their character but when you’re compassionate, you don’t find reasons why others shouldn’t be helped, rather you find reasons why they must be helped. That’s compassion. That’s what it means to be compassionate.
The compassion of God is the reason why God blesses both the wicked and the good. Matthew 5:45 says, “That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.” Of course, there are certain things that God will do for those who are in covenant with Him, but the truth is, God is compassionate to bless everyone that looks up to Him for help. In other words, His mercy knows no bounds, He is no respecter of persons. Psalms 145:9 says, “The Lord is good to all…” God is not partial. Yes, there are people who walk with God based on covenant and God will do certain things for them based on His covenant, just as parents would pay their children’s fees first by obligation before possibly extending mercy to a child in the neighbourhood who needs help with paying his school fees. So, when God gives something special because of the kind of relationship His children have with Him, that doesn’t show that God is partial, He’s just responding to His obligation in a covenant relationship with His children. God is not partial; He is not a respecter of persons. The Father God wants to bless you now because He is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works. Believe that God is a good God and open your heart to receive His goodness today. Be blessed today and always with favour, open doors, God’s goodness in every sphere of life in Jesus’ Name!
