The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoic
The Word tells us to rejoice always. God must have envisaged the different circumstances that we would go through in life before giving the instruction to rejoice always. In other words, God doesn’t want anything to stop our joy. He wants us to rejoice, our situation notwithstanding. We may not always feel like rejoicing, but we are told to rejoice always. Romans 4:17-21 shows us how Abraham responded to his situation. Verse 20 says “He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God.” What does it mean to give glory to God? It means to give thanks, to ascribe praise to God concerning His Word that you have received, on which your faith stands. The Bible does not say that we should rejoice in our situation, rather it says that we should rejoice in the Lord (Philippians 4:4). It is quite challenging to rejoice in your situation, particularly when it is unpalatable. But the Word tells us to rejoice in the Lord, and that we can always do. In Christ Jesus the Lord, we have a myriad of reasons to rejoice – we have been blessed with all spiritual blessings in the heavenly places in Christ. You give thanks to God because you know that He is faithful and true to His Word. True joy always comes from your faith in what God has done for you in Christ.
As a child of God, you have been called into the life of faith – absolute confidence in God and what He has done for you in Christ. When you begin to walk by faith in what God has done for you in Christ, fountains of joy are broken within your spirit, rivers of living water of joy flow from within you ceaselessly. The connection between faith and joy is that faith rejoices in what God has said and in what He has done for you. If indeed you know and believe that God has done it, then you will rejoice and give Him thanks for receipt. That’s the Bible way to acknowledge what God has done for you. Trying to rejoice in your situation is going to be very mechanical because you can’t really feel that joy. But the moment you take your reference point from what God has said to you, who you are in Christ, that you are blessed, and you are the seed of Abraham, joy will spring forth from within you. Hallelujah!
My Solid Front (Confession):
In the Name of Jesus, I declare that the Word of God is the solution to every need in my life, the answer to every question, the light that dispels every darkness, and the seed for my desired miracle. Therefore, I stay in faith based on the revelation of God’s Word and I keep rejoicing as I receive my miracle in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
