7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
Bible faith always demands and creates action. How did Noah show that he had faith in God? What would have been the result if Noah had said, “Lord, I believe you will flood the earth, but I don’t really feel like making this ark?” Listen, faith isn’t complete without a corresponding action of obedience. The story of Noah was a faith-building story if there ever was one. God has a plan. God tells Noah His plan. Noah listens and obeys. God rescues or saves Noah and his family members. That’s how salvation comes: by acting on the Word of God that we believe. It is at the point of obeying God in faith that we step into the fulfilment of His Word to us. No obedience of faith, no fulfilment of prophecy.
Christianity today ought to stress the obedience of faith as much as the apostles of old did. Obedience is still an important part of growing our faith. Faith grows in the soil of meditation in the Word and obedience of faith. What does it mean if we say that we believe God but don’t care to do what He says? It simply means that we really don’t believe God. The truth is, God has been plain about how He wants us to live. We are to live in obedience to His Word in faith; we are to trust His Spirit within us to enable us to live according to His Word. We are to obey God’s Word in faith, and as we do, His grace comes to enable us to live by His Word and to change us from glory to glory into the fullness of His glory. The Christian life is a life of faith, the obedience of faith. We believe God and do what He tells us to do, and His grace fulfils in us what we cannot do by ourselves. Beloved, in what ways or areas of your life are you challenged in your obedience to God? Prayerfully and meditatively consider those areas and make amends in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Listen beloved, so much of God’s goodness and grace awaits your obedience of faith, therefore do not delay it. God bless you!
MY SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION)
In the Name of Jesus Christ, I declare that I am a doer of the Word. I walk in the fulfilment of every prophecy that God has spoken concerning me. I declare that the Spirit that dwells in me is the Spirit of obedience, therefore I yield myself to Him as I walk in the obedience of faith. Amen.
