6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
Today’s opening Scripture tells us that we have been accepted in the Beloved. Every child of God in Christ Jesus has acceptance with God. That’s favour with God. As a child of God, you don’t need to strive to have favour with God any more than you need to strive to become God’s child that you already are. Many Christians are ignorant of the fact that they have been accepted in the beloved. They don’t have to do anything to earn it as much as they didn’t need to do anything to earn salvation. God loves you now as much as He would love you tomorrow. Before the Lord Jesus Christ started His ministry, at Jordan when He was being baptized by John, the Father said to Him, “… this is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased”. That’s how much God was pleased with Him before He began His earthly ministry. God loves you first, and He wants you to know it, and believe it, and accept it, and respond to Him accordingly. 1 John 4:19 tells us that we love God because He first loved us. That’s the secret of loving God as we ought to. You must believe that God loves you and that you have come into favour with Him in Christ. That’s the reality, and that’s the truth of the matter. God, through Christ Jesus, has accepted us in the beloved, which means that we are as beloved to the Father as Jesus Christ the Lord is to Him (John 17:23). That shouldn’t be too much for your mind to take, should it?
To be accepted in the beloved is to hold a special place in God’s heart; it is to be the apple of His eye. There is nothing better and more advantageous than that. To know that and to walk in the light of it, is to be made forever. Ephesians 1:6 tells us that we have been accepted with the very acceptance that Jesus has with the Father; so, we have favour with God. Again in 1 Peter 2:9, the Bible says “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people, that you should show forth the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” and then it says something profound in verse 10 “which in time past were not a people but are now the people of God, which had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy”. God is telling you not to think of the past, in line with His Word. Prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 43:18 says “Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.” God is saying you have now obtained mercy; you have obtained favour. God looks at you and He sees you highly favoured before Him. Hallelujah!!!
My Solid Front (Confession):
In the Name of Jesus, I declare that I have been accepted in the Beloved Christ Jesus: I am now the Beloved of God. I have favour with God, therefore men look upon me with favour always. Amen.
