And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou son of David, have mercy on us.
28 My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.
29 His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.
Pursuit is the proof of desire. Any man who will receive answers from the Lord must be ready to follow through. If you want to have your desires met, you must be willing and ready to follow through and through until you receive the end of your faith. The two blind men in our opening Scripture followed Jesus until they got their desired miracle. They cried to Jesus for mercy. “Thou Son of David, have mercy on us…” they cried. Understand that with the mercy of God, no case is closed; no matter is impossible. No matter the situation, when you seek the mercy of God regarding your needs, you will always come back with a testimony. It does not matter how long the situation has been there for, the mercy of God is a masterstroke solution to every problem. There is no mistake or transgression that is greater than or too much for the mercy of God. There is no impossibility to the mercy of God. There is always a bailout for you on the grounds of God’s mercy. The mercy of God knows no limitation.
The life of David evidently showcases the power and efficacy of the mercy of God. David was God’s plan B and not plan A. God wanted to establish the kingdom of Saul the son of Kish forever, but he messed up. Then God brought David in as His plan B. God didn’t plan to establish the kingdom of David forever; there was no plan to crown him king of Israel to start with, but David was a man who sought after God and believed very solidly in the mercy of God; he sought desperately after the mercy of God. He wanted to understand the mercy of God, and by and large, God cut a covenant of mercy with him – the everlasting covenant, even the sure mercies of David. Therefore, when we talk about the sure mercies of God, it is named after David: the sure mercies of David (Isaiah 55:3). The sure mercies of David are sure, steadfast and unflinching. When mercy is working, you cannot rule out anyone. The mercy of God is all inclusive; it includes everyone, even the unlikely ones. God is so delighted in raising the poor and the beggar from the dunghill and setting them among the princes of His people because the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s. The way to find mercy is by humbling yourself before God. God gives more grace to the humble. When anyone humbles himself before God, then they are due for a lifting. Believe in the mercy of God and seek it humbly and in faith. Don’t give up on God. Don’t give up on yourself either.
My Solid Front (Confession):
Thank You Father, for You are good and Your mercy endures forever. I lay hold on the covenant of Your mercy today and I enjoy, today and every day, the sure mercies of David in Jesus’ Name. I humble myself and I enjoy Your mercies abundantly!
