12 Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.
13 I will go into thy house with burnt offerings: I will pay thee my vows,
14 Which my lips have uttered, and my mouth hath spoken, when I was in trouble.
15 I will offer unto thee burnt sacrifices of fatlings, with the incense of rams; I will offer bullocks with goats. Selah.
11 And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.
By the power of a vow, Hannah received Samuel from the Lord and her womb was opened to have many children. A vow is a hearty commitment to give an offering unto God if He grants your request or answers your prayers. Beloved, there is power in a vow. With a vow, you can commit God, as He is a faithful God. God loves covenant. When, through your vow, your commitment is registered before God, you have His commitment right there and then. If there is an unpleasant situation in your life and you want to get out of it in no time, you can get out of the miry clay and have your feet set on the solid rock through a vow. Psalms 66:13-14 says, “I will go into thy house with burnt offerings: I will pay thee my vows, which my lips have uttered, and my mouth hath spoken, when I was in trouble.” From this Scripture, we understand that when David was in trouble, he uttered some vows to God, and He pulled him out of trouble. So, David has come to pay his vows to God. There is tremendous power in making a vow to God in prayer. In verse 15 of the same Scripture, we see how that he went to the house of God and paid his vows. David said, “I will offer unto thee burnt sacrifices of fatlings, with the incense of rams; I will offer bullocks with goats.” This was under the Law and those were the kinds of things they offered based on the requirements of the Law. David come out of trouble because God wanted him to pay his vows. God loves and keeps covenants.
Under the New Testament, there are offerings we offer in a vow that are consistent with this covenant. The Bible tells us in Psalms 65:1, “Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed.” God dwells in Zion. Zion is a type of the Church of God, the body of Christ. When vows are made and paid, God waits there in Zion to receive the vows. God is faithful, and He always wants us to respond to Him faithfully. When you make a vow to God, He expects you to pay that vow, so He commits Himself to the content and terms of the vow such that you get out of that trouble, and having come out of trouble, you then return to give praise to His Name. It is possible to enter a new season and phase of your life through the power of a vow. You can get out of distress through the power of a vow, and by the same power of a vow, you can break new grounds in career, in business, in ministry and any other thing that God has put in your hands. Hallelujah!!!
MY SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION)
I declare in the Name of Jesus Christ, that I engage the power of vows and I enjoy the commitment of God. Therefore, I am propelled into breaking new grounds in career, ministry, business and in all that I do. Amen.
