21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
Sin consciousness is a product of the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. Before the fall of man, there was no sin in the Garden, neither was there any such thing as sin consciousness. What is sin consciousness? It is a sense of sin that brings and breeds insufficiency, inadequacy, inferiority, condemnation and low self-esteem. Sin consciousness is the enemy of faith and liberty of the children of God. After the fall of Adam in the Garden of Eden, he suddenly became afraid, ashamed and condemned before God. That sin consciousness paralysed his righteousness consciousness such that he literally couldn’t stand before God anymore. Sin consciousness is more deadly than sin itself because sin thrives in the presence of sin consciousness. It is worthy of note that righteousness consciousness is the only cure for sin consciousness; and stepping out of sin-consciousness is stepping out of failure into success.
Our opening verse tells us that God made Christ Jesus sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made God’s righteousness in Him, which means that Christ Jesus became one with our sin nature in His substitutionary work that we might become one with His righteousness nature. Understand that sin is more than transgression; it is a nature. Before we got born again, we were by nature children of wrath (Ephesians 2:3); but when we got born again, we were recreated to possess a new nature, the nature of righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ. For example, you didn’t have to do anything wrong to be a sinner in Adam, because you were born a sinner (Romans 3:23). In the same vein, when you got born again, you didn’t have to do anything right to be righteous in Christ. You are righteous by reason of your new nature in Christ. You are the righteousness of God in Christ! What that means is that you don’t have to be sin conscious anymore. Righteousness now means that you have been justified from your sin and its consequences, and that you now stand justified before God, sufficient by His sufficiency and able by His ability. Hallelujah!!! You have stepped out of sin-consciousness, which is the root of weakness and redundancy of the believer, and you have stepped into righteousness consciousness which is the root of strength and effectiveness of the believer in Christ.
MY SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION):
In the Name of Jesus Christ, I declare that I am the righteousness of God in Christ, and so failure and insufficiency are no more in my life; for I have stepped out of low self-esteem into righteousness consciousness. I am worth every blood shed for me at Calvary; I am what God says I am, and I can do what God says I can do. Amen.
