For we walk by faith, not by sight.
By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
Faith is the believer’s walk. A walk is a lifestyle; it is a culture, a way of life (living). If we say somebody has a walk with God, it means the person has a consistent lifestyle with God. A walk is a series of steps taken in a particular direction, which means that you’re taking steps daily – making progress, advancing, going forward – towards the fulfilment of God’s purpose for your life. So, a walk of faith is taking faith steps daily in the direction of God’s purpose for your life. What does that tell us? We walk by faith and not by sight; which means we make progress in fulfilling God’s will for us by faith. Without faith, we cannot make real progress in God. It takes faith to make real progress in God. Faith is our walk in Christ; it is our life in Christ, it is our culture in Christ.
The Bible tells us that Enoch walked with God and was not for God took him, and before his translation, he had the testimony that he pleased God. Enoch began walking with the Lord when he was 65 years old and he walked with God for 300 years before he was translated. Taking steps of faith daily for 300 years is undoubtedly a walk of faith. In Enoch’s faith walk, consistency, diligence and patience or endurance were involved. Hebrews 11:6 tells us that without faith, it is impossible to please God, and that everyone that comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him. So, diligence and consistency and patience are required in our faith walk. We are to keep taking steps consistent with and inspired by the Word consistently. Faith begins where the will of the Lord is known. The will of God is the Word revealed to us. To act in faith therefore is to act in line with the Word. Every step we take acting on the Word, is a step of faith; and if we continue acting in that manner, we’ll have a series of faith steps in the direction of God’s will, which is known as a walk of faith. We walk by faith, not by sight. Beloved, if you really want to keep pace with God’s program, God’s prophetic calendar for your life, you need to walk by faith.
