Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
For there to be a fight, there must be an opponent or opposition. Our opening Scripture says, “fight the good fight of faith;” which means that there is such a thing as the fight of faith and there is a fight to faith, also. Certain oppositions or challenges stand in the way of faith. Faith, therefore, is always up against certain things, one of which is contrary natural or sensual evidence. Romans 4:18 speaks of Abraham, “who against hope believed in hope.” Contrary to the natural evidence of his dead, unreproductive body and the deadness of Sarah’s womb, Abraham staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief but was strong in faith, giving glory to God. So, Abraham’s faith overcame the unreproductive situation of his body and of his wife’s womb. Faith is an overcoming force or power! Faith is the victory that overcomes the world! Faith is of the heart; it is a child of the recreated or born-again spirit of man (Romans 10:9-10).
What then is the fight of faith? It is holding fast the Word of God in the face of daunting, militating and contrary physical evidence. You believe that the Word is true, no matter what! The situation around you is contrary to the Word, but your heart agrees with the Word, and you give thanks to God for His faithfulness, holding fast to the unchanging, immutable Word. That’s the fight of faith. Hebrews 11:1 tells us that faith is the substance and the evidence of things not seen yet. It says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Faith is the confidence that we have in God as to the things that we expect to see come to pass. Faith comes by the revealed knowledge of the Word; therefore, faith is at its best when the knowledge of God’s Word is at the brightest in the heart of the believer. When you have the light of God’s Word shining in your heart, believing God is the easiest thing to do. The fight of faith cannot be executed outside of the knowledge of God’s Word. Faith is hinged on the revelation of the Word; therefore, strong faith is that which is totally dependent on God’s Word. When you have the knowledge of God’s Word running in you, your faith has what is needed to make itself good.
MY SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION):
Thank You Father for the faith of God at work in me. I declare that as the light of the Word shines brighter and brighter in my heart, believing God becomes the easiest thing for me to do in Jesus’ Name. I fight the fight of faith and victory is mine every step of the way! Amen.
