26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth,
27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.
28 And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; [a]blessed are you among women!”
29 But [b]when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was.
30 Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus.
32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.
33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”
34 Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I [c]do not know a man?”
35 And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.
36 Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren.
37 For with God nothing will be impossible.”
38 Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
So he answered and said to me:
“This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel:
‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’
Says the Lord of hosts.
Mary had a wonderful prophecy from the angel of God. The angel had told her “…behold, you shall conceive in your womb, and bring forth a son, and shall call his name JESUS.” She then asked, “How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?” “And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore, also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” (Luke 1:35). Whatever God has said to you, whatever prophecy is on your life, whatever prophetic word you are running with, how will that word come to pass? It is going to come to pass not by might, nor by power, but by the Holy Spirit. It is the Spirit of God that will bring it to pass. Manifestation is of the Spirit. The thing for which you are in faith will happen by the Spirit.
The Christian life cannot be lived by the arm of the flesh, or the strength of man. In fact, it is not possible to live as a Christian without the Spirit of God. The things that you’re trying to do in your own ability, which can only be done by the Spirit of God, will wear you out. Understand that there are things God alone can do. So, what then do you do? You must trust God to do them in you and through you. When you go to any construction site, you see the sign “men at work” there, then you can tell that men are working there; but when you come to the Red Sea and you see it parted, that’s not men at work, that’s God at work. When you see the deaf hearing, the dumb speaking, the lame walking, the barren made fruitful, that’s not men at work but God at work. There are works that God alone can do. Now, fulfilling your God-given destiny, it is not men at work, rather it is God at work in you because it’s a destiny that God designed all by Himself that cannot be fulfilled by the arm of the flesh and that’s why the Spirit of God comes to help us, to bring us to that end in view, that end that God has prepared for us. Hallelujah.
MY SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION):
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the help of the Spirit. I rely on Your Spirit to do in me that which I cannot do. I understand that it is not by power, nor by might but by Your Spirit. Amen!
