Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
The Holy Spirit is the Father’s precious gift to us, to guide and comfort us. In the opening verse, the Lord tells us that when the Spirit is come, even the Spirit of truth, He will guide us into all truth, which means that He is our guide. It says He will not speak of Himself, but whatsoever He hears, that shall He speak, which means that He will speak Jesus’ and the Father’s words to us. By the Spirit, we clearly hear the Father and Jesus unequivocally. It then says, the Spirit of God will show us things to come. What a bundle of blessings we have in the guidance of the Spirit! The Spirit is Omniscient, and He knows everything about God’s plan for us. He knows where the opportunities for our lifting are located. The Spirit of God knows where the right opportunities are. This is why you need to make the conscious decision to let Him lead you. The Bible says in Romans 8:14, “As many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”That means God has given us His Spirit to lead, to guide, and to show us the way through life, so we don’t miss our way.
How does the Spirit of God guide us? Proverbs 20:27 tells us, “The Spirit of a man is the candle of the Lord searching all the inward parts of the belly.” This means that God is going to guide you by His Spirit through your spirit. God is going to guide you from inside out. He will lead you by the Holy Spirit through your born-again spirit, and so maintaining a very friendly and active fellowship with the Holy Spirit is the sure way to be guided and taught by Him. It is in your own interest to let the Spirit guide you. When you meditate in the Word and pray, be sensitive to the Spirit’s leading from within you. John 7:37-38 tells us that out of your innermost being shall flow rivers of living water; that is, out of your heart shall flow the Spirit, giving you counsel, instructions, and leading you into opportunities prepared for you before the foundation of the world. Therefore, you maintain an atmosphere of fellowship with the Holy Spirit by ministering to the Lord regularly, walking in the light of God’s Word and cutting yourself off everything that could clog and suffocate your spirit, such as strife, unforgiveness, offences, and most especially carnality. Rid yourself of strife, envy, bitterness, and all other works of the flesh, so your spirit can be sensitive to the leading of the Spirit of God.
My Solid Front (Confession):
I declare that I am sensitive and yielded to the leading of the Spirit of God in my life. I give myself to meditating in God’s Word; therefore, my heart is quick to pick up God’s will for me in every situation, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
