1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
In our opening Scripture, God said: “Let there be light and there was light.” God did not get permission for light to exist, rather He commanded light to shine out of darkness. 2 Corinthians 4:6 tells us that God commanded light to shine out of darkness. Amazing, isn’t it? We understand that the heaven and the earth were made by God. God spoke everything into existence. Who then is this God? 1 John 4:8 shows us that God is Love. So, we can read Genesis Chapter 1:1-3 this way “In the beginning, God (Love) created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God (Love) said, Let there be light: and there was light.” It was God, Love, that commanded light to shine out of darkness. That’s the power of love. Love alone has the power to create light out of darkness! Love has creative power. Love never fails, never falls, and never falters. There is no fear or darkness in love; for perfect love casts out fear and sorrow. Hallelujah!
The whole universe was designed to work by love because it was Love that created the heaven and the earth. It was not the devil, it was not Satan; God who is Love said, let there be light and there was light and throughout Genesis 1, we see God commanding things to come into existence by faith and love, and it was so. Because of God’s love for man, His creative power went to work at creation by faith to create all that man will ever need for life and godliness. The love of God crafted the universe for man’s comfort through the art and science of God’s faith and wisdom. The principles that govern life are essentially of love, not of hate. These principles may not look like it peripherally, but the truth is, the content, the fibre, the essence of the governing principles of life is of love. Love made all things and they all work by love; they all respond to love. Nothing was made to work in hatred or by hatred. Nothing was made to work in greed or by greed or covetousness, everything was made to work in love and by love. Beloved, give yourself to the love of God. Do things for love, not for greed. Let the love of God motivate or inspire you!
