Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
The opening verse tells us that believers are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in us. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, which means that your body houses the God of the universe. That’s not a small thing at all; that’s big and prestigious. God has honoured us by making our bodies His temple. Therefore, your body is not ordinary; it is a special kind of body, it is anointed, sanctified and highly honoured before God. Listen, the most influential and powerful being in the universe, God Almighty, dwells in your body. Your body is spiritual, not carnal. Think about the fact that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. It will free you from weakness, sickness and all bad habits practiced in the body. You can tell sickness, weakness and bad habits off from your body in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ because your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:11 tells us that by the indwelling of the Spirit of God in us, our bodies are vitalized and quickened. Why? Our bodies are the temple of God.
When Jesus died on the cross, blood and water came out of His body; the blood purged us from dead works, that we might serve the living God and the water sanctified our bodies to be able to house the Spirit of God (Hebrews 10:22). Now we are lively stones. We are being built up a spiritual temple unto God wherein spiritual sacrifices are offered unto God. Now that you are in Christ, your body is no longer the kind of body that sickness can come and attach itself to. It is the temple of the Holy Spirit. When you were joined to the Lord, you were joined spirit, soul and body. First, you were joined to the Lord Spirit-to-spirit, and then body-to-body. We are members, in particular, bone of His bones and flesh of His flesh. We are in union with Christ inseparably because God dwells in us now. The Holy Spirit has come to dwell in you to quicken you, to revitalize your mortal body. You have become a host to the divine life. Be conscious of who you are and what you carry. Walk in the light of your oneness with Christ by accepting the responsibility to honour God in your body, which is the Lord’s.
MY SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION):
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I recognize that my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit; therefore, I treat my body with honour as the Lord has bestowed His presence on it. I refuse sin, sickness, weakness and any such thing to thrive in my body in the Name of Jesus Christ! Amen.
