I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.
And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
In the opening verse, Job said that he had heard of God by the hearing of the ear, but now his eye sees God. There is the knowledge of God by the hearing of the ear and there is the knowledge of God by the seeing of the eye. Mostly, people who claim to know God know Him by the hearing of the ear; they know God by what others have said of Him but not by a personal revelation of God. Moses heard God personally and documented what he had heard from God. However, when Moses gave the tablets of the Law to Israel, it was dead instructions to them. To the people it was dead, but to Moses who heard God, it was life. Those words fell from the lips of Jehovah Himself. In 1 Samuel 3:4, “…the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.” As believers, it is possible to hear God. You can hear God audibly. There is such a thing as “the word of the Lord came unto me…” In 1 Samuel 3:10 “And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.” Do you know that there is such a thing as the knowledge of the Word of the Lord? Such that when you hear it, or someone is speaking it, you can tell that that’s the Word of the Lord. When people experience God, not just hear about God, they understand deeply who God is and cannot deny that knowledge. This is not knowing God by memory but by the voice of the Lord.
Samuel’s testimony as a prophet of God was so strong that none of His words fell to the ground. Why? He was a man that knew the voice of God. 1 Samuel 3:21 “And the LORD appeared again in Shiloh: for the LORD revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the Word of the LORD.” God wants us to know Him, by His Word, not the letter, but the spirit. In the New Covenant, intimate knowledge of God ought to be commonplace. Every man in Christ ought to know the Lord intimately, experientially. It is New Testament to know God for yourself. It is God’s will for you to know Him for yourself. This is the essence of Christianity. God leading you, and you following Him. Beloved, cry out to God today. Say “Father, my heart longs to know you more. You are real, you are not a figment of someone’s imagination. You are not a theoretical concept of religion. No! You are a Person that can be known and experienced. Therefore today, Lord in the Name of Jesus Christ, I desire the revelation of God according to the Word of God in Jesus’ Name.”
SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION):
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I declare that I walk in intimate knowledge of God continually! My heart is illuminated by the true light of grace and of God in Jesus’ Name! Amen!
