1 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
1 And the Lord said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.
2 And Samuel said, How can I go? if Saul hear it, he will kill me. And the Lord said, Take an heifer with thee, and say, I am come to sacrifice to the Lord.
3 And call Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will shew thee what thou shalt do: and thou shalt anoint unto me him whom I name unto thee.
From our opening Scripture, we see that there were certain prophets and teachers in the Church at Antioch, and as they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Ghost spoke and organized a divine partnership between Barnabas and Saul. It was a partnership designed by God Himself. Someone might ask, who do I partner with in life, in ministry, or in business? Do I just look into the Church and pick a believer at random? We see the precedence of being led and divinely connected by God, and the same is still available now. Barnabas and Saul were supernaturally connected by God for the work of the ministry. Please understand that this kind of partnership orchestrated by God is not only limited to ministry, but also extends unto other areas of life: career, marriage, business, and so on. Beloved, these are specific choices to make in life, and you need to be led by the Spirit of God in order to make them right.
You might have an impossible boss at work, and you don’t want to tell lies, or cut corners, yet you want to keep your job. You want to be submissive to your boss, you don’t want to fall from grace, and you still want to submit to God. How do you go about that? How do you negotiate your path? Divine guidance! The benefits of divine guidance are countless, which includes exemption from deception, famine and destruction. Prophet Elijah was guided by the Lord from famine into abundance. There was a famine in the land, yet the man of God was enjoying abundance at the brook of Cherith (1 Kings 17:1-16). Another benefit of divine guidance is the fulfilment of purpose and destiny. It is when you are led and guided that you can fulfil destiny and God’s purpose for your life. For you to make the most of every opportunity that comes your way, you must be led and guided, because “the race is not to the swift…” Therefore, until we are led by God, we cannot maximise our lives and make the most of every opportunity that comes our way. The joy of having God lead you and the joy of following Him, doing His will is so invaluable, it is priceless; for happy are those that do the will of God. Prosperity always abound as we follow God’s leading for us. Let the Spirit of God lead you from within your heart through the Word of God. How? Give yourself to meditation in the Word.
