14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
27 The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly.
Our opening Scripture reveals God’s plan for guidance for His children. As new testament believers, we are to be guided and led by the Holy Spirit. Prophets have a place in the New Testament as a part of the five-fold ministry gifts, but they are not meant to replace the ministry of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We do not despise the office of the prophet, rather we hold prophets in high regard, knowing that they are anointed of God to help us, but they are not our guide. Therefore, New Testament believers must understand the acceptable and standard way of receiving divine guidance so as to not abuse the office of the prophet, by looking for a quick fix, instead of sitting down with the Word of God and seeking God diligently in the place of prayers to hear Him for themselves. God will guide the believer through his born again, recreated spirit. Proverbs 20:27 says “The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.” In accessing divine guidance, it must be highly noted that your recreated human spirit is the candle, the lamp of God, through which God guides you. This means that God is going to guide you through your spirit by the Holy Spirit, not your head or your mind or even your emotions. The Holy Spirit within you will not bear witness with your head, will not bear witness with your feelings, will not bear witness with your emotions or intellect, but will only bear witness with your spirit. Just as Romans 8:16 says “The Spirit Himself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.”
In John 7:38, Jesus said, “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” Another translation says, “The one who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, from his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.” If the Spirit will flow out of your belly, do you think the Spirit will then lead you by your head? No. He will not lead you by your head, He will rather lead you by your spirit because that’s where He is; that’s where He flows from. Yes, your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, He lives in you, but He bears witness with your spirit that you are a child of God. In the same vein, the Spirit will bear witness with your spirit regarding other things pertaining to God’s will for you. The Spirit of God will guide you through your spirit. That means that divine guidance is from inside-out, it’s not from outside-in. No, a thousand times, no! Beloved, what’s the candle of the Lord within you? Your spirit. How is God going to light that candle? He is going to light that candle by giving you instructions and an inner witness by the Spirit through your spirit. He will put light and revelation in that candle and as you yield to the divine promptings, aligning your will to what God says, you will be divinely guided by God.
MY SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION):
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I declare that I am guided by the Holy Spirit into the fulness of God’s will for me in all things! I walk in the light of God’s will for me from inside-out! Amen!
