27 The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly.
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
As believers, God leads us by His Spirit through our recreated human spirits, therefore, we have to be Spirit-conscious to be led by God. Carnality, being ruled by the senses, is an enemy of receiving from the Lord; carnality is an enemy of being guided or led by the Spirit. Our opening Scripture reveals that the spirit of man is the candle of the Lord that searches all the inward parts of the belly and we know that the Spirit of God bears witness with our spirit that we are the sons of God. Now, seeing that God leads us by His Spirit through our recreated spirit, we must be spirit-conscious to access divine guidance. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 says “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Did you notice the order in the Scripture above? It is spirit first, not soul nor body. Some people would rather spend on their body than invest in their spirit; they give preference to carnal things instead of spiritual things, denying their spirit and soul nourishment of the Word. Beloved, the order is spirit, soul and body, don’t change it. It is spirit first and as you maintain an awareness of God’s Spirit and spiritual things; you will begin to receive from God. Therefore, prioritize spiritual things.
Make sure to do spiritual things by reason of importance and priority, and this requires that you take time to feed your spirit with the Word by meditating in the Word. To a spiritual man, meditation is key; but to a carnal man, sensuality is everything. Your spirit cannot fare better than what you feed it with. When you feed your spirit with the Word, you will fare well in life. Remember the order: spirit, soul and body. Do not rearrange the order; put your spirit first. It is not wrong to look good and give your body a good treat, it is not wrong to wear good make-up or perfume, but it is wrong to do all that at the expense of your spirit. Don’t do that! Any believer who doesn’t give much time to meditation in the Word will definitely have difficulty with hearing from God. Hearing God requires devotion; it involves giving quality time to fellowship with God’s Spirit in the Word. People who say they have difficulties with hearing from God are usually not giving adequate and sufficient attention to God’s word in reading and meditation and taking out quality time to pray in other tongues. 1 Corinthians 14:14 says “For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.” When you pray in tongues, you are exercising your spirit, priming him to receive from God. Feed your spirit first thing in the morning! Beloved, give utmost priority to your spirit, remember the order is spirit, soul and body.
MY SOLID FRONT (YOUR CONFESSION):
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I declare that I prioritize spiritual things; I refuse to be carnal. I put my spirit first, not my body. I meditate in the Word everyday by the help of the Spirit. Amen!
