5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
God didn’t create man with extraordinary abilities in themselves without God. The project called ‘man’ according to Genesis 1:26 shows that man cannot be what God intended them to be without God. Why? Man is the image of God. Your image depends on you as you are the object of your image. God is the substance, the essence of man, therefore without God, man cannot truly express God, because man was created in the image of God to function like Him. When the word ‘man’ comes to mind, what should come to mind is the original purpose and design of God for man. Genesis 1:26 tells us that God made man in His image and after His likeness. The Apostle Paul in our opening Scripture declared that our sufficiency is of God. If you get to a point in your life where you think that you are something without God, you are already a failed project because the project called man is substantiated by God. Man cannot be man indeed without God (The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit). Acts 17:28 says, “For in him we live, and move, and have our being…” Your being is in Him. Without God, there is no you. You are sourced by God to be sustained by Him.
How then does God sustain His children? Through the Word. Little wonder Jesus said to the devil during the great temptation, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” The life of the believer is word life, it is designed by God to be sustained by the Word. The Holy Spirit is your Helper in order that you may understand the deep things of God. Jesus said in John 14:26 “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” All things include things of the Word, for all things were made by the Word (John 1:3). The Holy Spirit is your Teacher, and the classroom of the Holy Spirit where He teaches you all things is the place of meditation. As you make out time to meditate on the Word, the Holy Spirit will begin to open Scriptures to you. Little wonder the Apostle Paul prayed for the Ephesian Church that the Lord will give unto them the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, thereby causing the eyes of their understanding to be enlightened. This is the prayer every believer must pray, as you open up your heart to receive from the Spirit of God. Ask the Father today for light to see what He is showing you in the Word, as revealed by the Holy Spirit. The answer you seek is in the Word; you only need light to see.
