30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
28 Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.
The presentation of a situation is not always a true reflection of it. Reality is not in appearance; it is in truth. In other words, things are not always the way they seem or appear; therefore, learn to think at least twice on every issue. When you think about any situation the second time, it is very likely that you begin to consider the reality of it. God told Moses to send twelve men to spy out the land of Canaan, and the Bible tells us that the spies came back with reports. Ten of them came back with an evil report saying “The land is good, the situation is good, it’s a land flowing with milk and honey but there are giants there. We cannot defeat the inhabitants of the land because we look like grasshoppers in our eyes and in theirs, too.” The other two spies, Joshua and Caleb, came back with a good report. They said, “Yes, there are giants there, but we are more than able to conquer them because God has said to us that He has given us the land.” Caleb and Joshua had another spirit, a different attitude because they had taken time to think and to believe in possibilities by believing what God had said to them. When the people were troubled by the evil report of the ten spies, Caleb quickly calmed the people down, and said, let’s go up at once, and possess it, for we are well able to overcome it. That’s the attitude of faith, an attitude of altitude. Caleb and Joshua believed God’s Word, and not their circumstances. Beloved, in Christ, we walk by faith and not by sight. The ten spies went by sight, but Joshua and Caleb walked by faith. Faith always hinges on the Word. God had already given the land of Canaan to Israel, but the ten spies did not believe the Word of God.
This principle of thinking at least twice on any matter is very important. When a matter presents itself to you, it may be a big challenge, it may be as tall as Goliath, yet when you consider that matter again, and consider it in the light of the covenant of God with you, that you are a covenant person, and that God’s Word is true in your case, you will begin to see that thing in the light of God’s Word, and you can see it for what it is. Joshua and Caleb said, “We are more than able to take the land. God has given it to us; those guys are bread for us.” And that was what happened. Hallelujah!
My Solid Front (Confession):
In the Name of Jesus Christ, I choose to be positive about life. I choose to see all situations as what God has called them. I believe the report of the Lord and therefore the possibilities of God have become my possibilities. Amen
